The pastors told The Times more than 300 leaders of church cell groups across Gauteng were invited to the Rhema Church last night and informed that the McCauleys’ marriage was over.
A senior pastor said that at least two urgent board meetings had taken place earlier this week in which the impending divorce had been discussed.
The McCauley’s marriage was reported to be on the rocks in 2008 when the church confirmed that they were having marital problems and had temporarily separated.
At the time, Rhema Church spokesman Vusi Mona reportedly said that McCauley and the Rhema Church did not believe in divorce.
